Dr. Beachy came to Gainesville from Sarasota in order to attend the University of Florida, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, a Master of Education, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership, Policy and Foundations. Dr. Beachy pursued a career in education working in rural and at-risk programs, serving as the principal at Eckerd Youth Alternatives’ Camp E-KEL-ETU, a wilderness education program for at-risk boys. For 24 years she served as the Chief Executive Officer of Peaceful Paths Domestic Abuse Network, Inc. the state certified domestic violence center serving Alachua, Bradford, and Union counties. In October 2024, she began as the Organizational Strategist for the Center for Nonprofit Excellence, a project of the Community Foundation of North Central Florida. Dr. Beachy is an active community leader, and is involved in numerous projects that address equity and social justice, interpersonal violence, homelessness and the intersectionality of poverty and oppression. She has served on a variety of highly successful and tumultuous boards throughout her career, and is acknowledged as an expert in organizational leadership, program development and metrics, and vision to fruition planning. She is a member of the Executive Board and Economic Development Committee Chair for the Greater Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce, a member of the North Central Florida Homeless Continuum of Care, member of the Gainesville Woman’s Club, and a member of the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. Her passion is for social change work that creates advocacy for issues related to violence against women, and promotes an empowerment feminist philosophy. Her greatest joy is her son Nate, a promising jazz guitarist with whom she enjoys the Gainesville community and the Florida lifestyle.
